The McNeill Story

David, his father and his brother on his father’s 80th birthday

It isnā€™t very often that the experience of dealing with an estate after the death of a loved is simple, let alone efficient. December 30th marked the passing of my father at 87 years old. Plans to manage all of his remaining personal property took a backseat to the mourning process and managing condolences from family and friends. When I received Stephanieā€™s contact information for Antiquity, I didnā€™t know that it was going to be a blessing in the making.

While I havenā€™t been to very many estate sales, I was aware of the typical roadshow-carnival style event some people consider appropriate. Stephanie managed to stage and create an environment unlike anything Iā€™ve seen. It was a gathering of kind, similarly minded people interested in art, music, plants, furniture, design, oddities and fun, all hosted in my fatherā€™s home. I was granted the rare opportunity to be present at the sale a few days as support. Working with her crew, Heather, Charlie, Marika was a pleasure and a positive reflection of how the company creates a relaxed comfort level throughout the work environment. They were conscientious, friendly, and above all respectful to customers and the home. Even in this COVID-19 era where social distancing and masks and sanitizing are mandatory, Stephanieā€˜s team managed to make the whole three-day event feel intimate and ā€œnormalā€.

I would recommend her services to anyone who would consider the possibility of generating reuse, revenue and rewards from items that on first glance might be considered a liability. Bottom line, all the items that were sold found suitable new homes and families to care for them. I think thatā€™s the way my father would have wanted it. All in all, it was very positive almost cleansing experience. One that I will not forget, and one that I will recommend others go through if they find themselves ready to let go and move ahead as the journey of life continues to unfold.
